Homework and Reading

It was such a pleasure to meet many of you on Thursday and Friday and to have some individual time with your children to assess their comfort level in reading. All children develop their reading abilities at different times so please do not be concerned if they are reading different books to their classmates. Please focus on, and celebrate their own individual progress. However, daily reading is so important for reading progress, and reading for 20 minutes per day can expose students to 1.8 million words per year. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF6VKmMVWEc&feature=youtu.be&t=45s) That is a considerable amount of vocabulary which is particularly important in learning additional languages.

This week I am sending home the homework information. I will also send it home in Urdu and Arabic. Please bear with me, I am using technology for translations. This will not be regular practice, but the letter is very important and quite text heavy!

Thank you for your support in helping your children reach their potential.
