Peer Editing & Collaboration

The intention of peer-editing:

  • 'catch' more errors that can be corrected by students

  • unobtrusive sharing of presentations

  • increasing the opportunity for languaging between students to increase communicative competence

  • increase in cultural identity sharing for learners who may be slower to begin or unsure how to begin

  • building community amongst learners as part of a knowledge-building environment

Teachers will need to record the names of individuals who are collaborating and editing with each other. Depending on the age and capabilities of your students you will need to record their contributions to each other's project. For example, with grade 3 students I would suggest that they have to provide commentary on two projects. These commentaries need to be either editing suggestions and/or feedback such as "I think you can make this project even better by........"

Comments on the project can be left directly on the presentation.
