Technology Requirements

  • Permission from Administration to assign Digital Media tasks to students(open access) https://www.commonsense.org/education/digital-citizenship

  • Access to student devices (Chromebook, desktop computer, or laptop)

  • Teacher desktop device

  • Student and teacher Gmail usernames and passwords

  • Smartboard or digital presentation hardware

First, students will use the devices to complete pre-assigned (by the teacher), open access digital literacy lessons online. Each student has access to their own Google account using their own Gmail address and password. Within this Google account are Google Applications which are readily available and pre-loaded for use on an individual Chromebook. The students will receive, via Google Classroom, a Google Form which will be designed by the whole group during the planning stages for interviewing their family. If students do not have access to a device at home, they can take a printed form home. Students will then use Google Slides to design their own presentation of their cultural identity. The use of Google applications enables the student to student collaboration for improvements and identity sharing. The work can be shared at multiple times with multiple users and can be restored by the teacher if mislaid.
